Inverted Bike Shop

OK. So I found this video, and I really love the message behind it. It involves this guy taking his joy of making bikes and his love for people and giving his customers the best bike possible for them. I hope I can do something like this for people: getting to work with my hands, making something for people, and giving people something especially tailored to who they are and what they want. I'll let the video say the rest. Enjoy!

New Music

So here's just a song I found a few weeks ago and enjoy. I had never heard of The Lumineers until recently. I also like what they did for the lighting in the music video. It's pretty hipster-ish and there are a lot of fedoras, but it's still a good song.

Graduation

Exactly two weeks from today, I will be graduating. AH!!

With graduation fast approaching, I also see a slew of changes about to happen. I'm excited and scared all at once. I've slowly been trying to prepare for it, and there are times when it hits me at full force. I have friends who are moving far away, other friends who are getting married, and my whole environment will be changing as I move from the college kids, to the working world full of adults.

It's such a mix of bitter sweet emotions. I'm trying to describe the emotion, but it's hard to pinpoint. You're filled with love for the people that will be leaving you and excited for their new adventures. But at the same time, you're scared because you're not sure what that means for your friendship and how it will change. You, yourself, are excited for the changes and your own new adventures, but yet, you look back and realize that you'll miss everyone you met and the "college life". And when you look forward, you're not totally sure what this next stage of your life really holds.

As for me, I'm not really sure what I'm doing after college. I don't have a job lined up or any plans really. I just know that it will all fall together somehow. No, I don't know the details. But that's OK. I think this is part of the "real world" I will be first experiencing: not having a plan or knowing how things will happen, but living in it anyways.

I have more thoughts on it, but not that much time to write them all out. :) But soon, I will be a college graduate. Can't wait.

Graphic Designer Fail

I feel like this describes me at work and in class perfectly. The stress of having to be creative and coming up with something good, and then it continuously having it shut down. The constant colors and typefaces that flow through my head and then more and more stress. Oh... the life of a graphic designer:

Sunset Walks

I often find myself often looking up to the sky. I do love Arizona sunsets.

Growing Old & Taking Chances

I enjoy this video. It's somewhat bitter sweet, but I still like it. Here's to growing old and taking chances. Enjoy!

Women Learn to Love Themselves

So I'm all for women appreciating who they are and loving themselves. Here's this artist called India.Arie. I don't know much about her. A friend had showed me her a few years ago. But I've enjoyed this song and video by her and support it's message. If you need to watch a music video where girls aren't dressed in scandalous clothing and talking about getting with a guy, here's a video for you!

Look Up

So I was walking home the other day from work and had my camera with me and a lens I borrowed. It was dusk and the sun was just setting, and I couldn't help but be captivated by everything around me: the flowers, the sky, the light, the shadows, and more. So here's a few pics, just from a simple walk home from work.

I Will Wait For You

OK. So I'm single and while I think it is a good thing, sometimes it is hard to be single. I've dated a couple times, but obviously, none of them worked out. And it can be hard as all your friends begin to date, get engaged, and are preparing to walk down the aisle; and here you are, feeling left out and asking, "So when will it happen for me?"

And it's not like I am one of those girls who have been planning their weddings since they were 10. I really don't think about the wedding aspect that much. But I do desire to have a partner to walk life with. I desire to have a husband and hopefully, start a family one day. It's not my main goal in life, but the desire is there.

As I wait, I have to remember to keep my standards high. I'm not talking about "unrealistic standards", I'm talking about the good, solid "do not settle" kind of standards. The ones where I will really love the guy I am with because of our friendship and connection, and not because he meets all the credentials on a certain list or because I'm "running out of time".

So here's an awesome video, that will relate to both single, dating, and married women I believe. We've all been in these spots she describes. So take a listen, and if you're single, do your best to wait. Wait on the Lord and let him love you and give you the best: His very best for you.

Love & Music

I'm pretty sure love is the number one emotion/topic for music. There's tons of love songs, ranging from beautifully sad to wonderfully happy and hopeful. This collection of music is related to love songs, both happy and sad.

The music video is a bit cheesy, but it's still cute. :) Enjoy.

This one is more about experiencing hurt from someone. The artist was inspired to write this after she found out her ex-boyfriend said something about her that didn't sound like him. She said that she drew from the feeling of "watching someone you care about change for the worse". The music video is pretty cool and I enjoy it. The song is beautiful too.

Um.... so of course I have to throw some foreign music your way. This is a cute Japanese video. And even if you don't know Japanese, I'm pretty sure you can understand the context (the sweet Spanish subtitles may help you tho).

And last, but not least, some K-pop (Korean pop) music for you. The guy has an actual English version, but what fun is that? Plus, he's from Korea, so I rather enjoy it in his original tongue.

Oh gosh. I just realized how these songs are so sad. Sorry! Let's end with a happy one, yeah? Here's a personal favorite:

Happy Easter! He came back!

HAPPY EASTER!! YAY!!!!!

So today is Easter. I remember around this time when I was first a Christian, I watched the video below and I was brought to tears. I was surprised how moved I was watching a video where I felt like I didn't really understand Christianity that much at all. But yet, without even knowing Jesus that well or understanding Easter that much, I was still touched.

God has been using this past year to teach me what it means to be "saved". He's been trying to show me what it means to live in absolute freedom, without fear of making mistakes, sinning, death, etc.

And this morning, I think right now, the most touching thing for me is that Jesus came back. He came back for us and will come back again. As I prayed, I just imagined myself if I saw Jesus after he rose, I would probably tear up and say,"You came back." And he said, "Of course I came back. I'll always come back. I won't ever leave you."

People come and go from our lives, but Jesus promises us to always come back to us and stay forever. He wanted to be with us so badly, he defeated death to be with us. So if you have ever been left by anyone or felt abandoned, just know that Jesus won't abandon you. Not even death will stop him from being with you.

Matthew 28:20
"And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Happy Easter! :)

Fantasy? or Reality? or Both?

This is one of the most visually beautiful films I have ever seen.

Is it fantasy? Reality? Or Both? Watch and then you decide:

The Third & The Seventh from Alex Roman on Vimeo.

And here's a slightly different version of the above video. I just really like the music to this version and it makes the video seem a bit more epic. However, the above/original is way better quality.

Google's Star Trek Glasses

I just read an article where Google is working on these glasses that will create an augmented reality. Sounds pretty insane if you ask me. But after I watched their concept video, which is below, I was like, "Whoa. That is pretty cool." It's almost like having a smart phone, but you don't move your fingers at all and the information is right before your eyes. For me, I'm hesitant because I've definitely been "anti-smart phone" and "I need less technology in my life" mode for a few years now. But I won't lie, if one day, what the video below showed could actually happen, that would be pretty cool. They still have a long way to go, but we shall see what happens.

"According to the minds behind Project Glass, technology should "be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don't". For more information, read the article here

Sisterly Music

Here's a band I've followed for a little bit. They called themselves Karmina, and they're two sisters that really enjoy writing music and singing. I enjoy them quite a bit. They're fun loving and talented. Here's a new song by them:

Hubcap Creations

So I'm going to be busy for a little while. I'm currently working away on my senior thesis project. It's due quite soon and I have to put it in a show and what not. But I decided to share with you all some of my research or findings.

My project is on hubcaps. I began collecting hubcaps a couple of months ago and began trying to do different things with them. Turns out, I'm not the only one who does this. I found this guy namPtolemy Elrington from Britain who also collects hubcaps. He creates these amazing sculptures out of hubcaps. Check them out! And visit his site if you can.

A husky out of hubcaps!!! So awesome!!

Photos from Work

So I have a job as a part-time graphic designer, but lately, it's become more of a photography gig than anything. Here's some photos I have taken at work:

This is Andrew. I work with him. He's usually my tester to see if the camera is working.

This is an acapella group called CatCall from the U of A who sang at the store.

And there was once a TOMS event at the store. These lovely ladies gave me fantastic poses.
